The best luxury watches in history didn’t gain popularity because of their mechanics. It was because of the famous personalities who chose to flaunt the design on their wrist! Watchmakers recognized this connection long back. And they crafted an exciting array of styles that somehow suited both royals and Hollywood actors alike. One fine example is the classic Tank Louis Cartier watch (starting from $11,900). That beautiful watch was first introduced in 1916. Till date, it has been seen on Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana, Michelle Obama and Angelina Jolie.
From a slew of vintage luxury watches to 18k gold timepieces, let’s take a peek into the enviable collection of five Hollywood stars.

Ryan Gosling
The Canadian actor has a penchant for vintage luxury watches. That’s not only in real life, but also on screen! His favourite, by far, is the stainless steel Rolex Air King circa 1950. That watch features prominently on his wrist on an almost everyday basis. Another old-school timepiece is the vintage Jaeger LeCoultre Master Memovox, the original automatic alarm watch.
On screen, his watch choices also match his personal style. That’s despite the fact Gosling’s watches are chosen to reflect the time period that his character is in. Take, for example, the 1950s Omega Automatic watch with a gold dial and brown strap that he wears in La La Land (2016). Or the 1940s Rolex Vintage Oyster Perpetual he wears in Crazy Stupid Love (2011).
Will Smith
For Hollywood actor Will Smith, watches have always been a big part of his life. He revealed in an interview that he actually saved up money to buy his first watch as a kid! It was a Timex with a liquid crystal screen that lit up to show the time. For Smith, the price of a luxury watch comes second. Above all, the design comes first. Smith is into variety. He’s admittedly open about the fact that he’s not loyal to one brand. No wonder we see a multitude of stylish timepieces in his repertoire. Talk about being spoilt for choices! Leading the way is a Victorinox Swiss Army watch. Smith also wears a steel Hamilton Ventura with a black leather lizard pattern strap.

His collection doesn’t end there. Smith also owns a Tag Heuer Monaco, and an 18k gold Rolex Sky-Dweller. Plus there’s an Audemars Piguet and a Ulysse Nardin steel Marine Chronometer model on a blue strap. Must be challenging for him to piece together watches and fashion on any given day.
Angelina Jolie
Hollywood star Angelina Jolie’s luxury watches match her minimalist sartorial sensibilities. Jolie prefers dainty and classic timepieces that can double up as an accessory with red carpet ensembles as well as everyday wear. The select few that can make this transition seamless include the Tank Louis Cartier watch in 18k gold.
Designed in 1916, the classic timepiece won the approval of Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana and Michelle Obama. No wonder Jolie has the watch in different styles and colours!
Scarlett Johansson
Hollywood actor Scarlett Johansson’s taste in luxury watches is as elegant as it gets. She’s one of the most powerful actors on the planet. So this isn’t surprising. Start with luxe timepieces from watchmakers like Rolex and Louis Vuitton. The two-toned 31mm Oyster Steel and yellow gold Rolex Lady Datejust is one we’ve seen her wearing. The Louis Vuitton Tambour Bijou Secret in turquoise is another timepiece we’ve seen her in. Equal parts elegant and feminine, these watches personify Johansson’s eclectic style.
Bradley Cooper
Bradley Cooper’s collection of luxury watches is mostly dominated by Rolex and IWC Schaffhausen. But what are his favourites? The Rolex Yachtmaster in 18k yellow gold and the vintage Rolex GMT Master Root Beer. And talk about sentimental value. The Rolex with the cool name is an iconic timepiece gifted to him by actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood.
Cooper is of course a Hollywood actor and director himself. He had been regularly wearing his IWC Big Pilot watch (46mm) on screen and off screen. He wears it so much that people thought he was the brand ambassador! IWC eventually did make him a friend of the brand. Since then, Cooper has been spotted wearing the IWC Portuguese Chronograph. And there’s a charitable connection to the watches he likes. Cooper has worn a special-edition IWC Big Pilot watch that was recently auctioned off for US $60,000 for charity!
