This is Grand Seiko’s first mechanical chronograph and there is a lot to talk about here.

Grand Seiko: Tentagraph a handsome watch, big and bold

The Tentagraph is an exquisite example of Japanese watchmaking, featuring innovative design and craftsmanship.  Almost everything you need to know about this watch is in the name. The TEN represents 10 beats per second, the T symbolizes 3 days of power reserve in an automatic movement that is highlighted by the A. And the GRAPH ties it all together as a chronograph.

Statement-maker: Deep blue dial

First, this is a very handsome watch. The dial layout is clean and very well-proportioned. The Subdials are sized perfectly at 3,6, and 9 o’clock, with the date window placed perfectly between the 4 and 5 o’clock indexes.

I love how the frame for the date window is black, and the date disc is blue, matching the dial colour, with clear white numbers. This adds to the design and makes everything easy to read.

72-hour power reserve

The deep blue textured dial is not just beautiful to behold, but also stays in line with Grand Seiko continuing to bring the enchanting nature of Japan to your wrist.

The textured pattern represents Mt. Iwate, which is visible from the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, in the deep blue night sky. Surrounding the dial is a black ceramic (tachymeter) bezel. This watch ranks high on style and function, not sacrificing legibility for its beauty.

This watch is powered by the longest-running 10-beat chronograph on the market today. The new Caliber 9SC5 has a power reserve of 72 hours and is well decorated automatic movement that is visible through the case back.

True to Grand Seiko’s high standards of accuracy, the vertical clutch and column wheel help the watch maintain a +5 to -3 seconds per day standard of accuracy and control the chronograph function.

Strong wrist presence

Big and bold. The case diameter is 43.2mm and 15.3mm thick. So definitely wearable but with a strong wrist presence. However, it will not weigh down your wrist because it is made of high-intensity titanium, a high-quality lightweight metal.

The Tentagraph is an exquisite example of Japanese watchmaking, featuring innovative design and craftsmanship.
