by | Oct 2, 2020 | Food, Food/Dining, Restaurants

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ontario increases and autumn’s cooler weather has returned. With that, luxury restaurants are going the extra yard in balancing not only a quality dining experience but also a safe environment. It’s all so people can get out and enjoy themselves. And Toronto steakhouses lead the way there.

Everyone needs to take proper precautions, wear a mask, limit social gatherings, and remain socially distant. Then this resurgence can be quelled sooner than expected. These five Toronto steakhouses lead the way in serving up delicious, mouth-watering beef. However, they also present a high level of care and genuine concern for their customer’s well being. And that’s just as much of a priority these days.

Harbour 60 – 60 Harbour St

Established in 1999, Harbour 60 Toronto claimed space in the old Toronto Harbour Commission building in order to serve up the finest grass-fed cuts of beef.

Diners are transported into an old-world of luxury and fine dining through the restaurant’s wood-accented decor and classic fare. The $102 New York strip steak is an example of that, or the market price A5 Japanese Kobe beef. All cuts pair well with any number of beverages from the restaurant’s extensive wine list.

For those seeking alternatives to beef, Harbour 60 also offers a wide range of delectable seafood options, like Chilean Sea Bass and Dover Sole.

Alongside their excellent service, Harbour 60 is also enforcing numerous COVID-19 restrictions both on their patio and inside the restaurant in order to protect diners. From limited seating at tables strategically placed six feet apart to mask enforcement when travelling through the restaurant, diners are ensured their safety. Private dining rooms are also available for reservation. In terms of best Toronto steakhouses, Harbour 60 leads the way.

Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar – 365 Bay St.

First established in Calgary in the early 1950’s by Hy Aisenstat, this steakhouse has expanded its presence. But it’s never lost its dedication to excellence. Only refined with age, Hy’s offers diners a classic menu. There is an extensive wine list from within its beautiful dining room. And the experience is complete with soaring ceilings and dark mahogany decor.

Hy’s offers prime grade steaks for both lunch and dinner, like their porterhouse and tomahawk cuts. Fresh seafood such as the one pound lobster tail and citrus-glazed sablefish are also offered. There are also mouthwatering appetizers like fresh oysters and steak tartare.

Hy’s is committed to the safety of their staff and patrons. They enforce the use of masks for both front and back of house staff and unseated guests. With a reinvented floor plan, each table is ensured to be at least six feet away from any other.

Hy’s is also offering a take-home Thanksgiving dinner featuring a curated menu of roasted turkey and all the trimmings, encouraging families to stay safe at home and dine within their social bubbles.

Bardi’s Steakhouse – 56 York St.

If there’s one place that knows beef, it’s Bardi’s Steak House. Serving up traditional, unpretentious fare since 1966, the owner-operated establishment is a staple in Toronto. You may have also seen them as the restaurant setting for Suits, Suicide Squad, and Molly’s Game.

Serving only “Certified Angus Beef,” naturally aged, trimmed and cut on site, guests can indulge in everything from filet mignon and top sirloin. There is rock lobster tails and wild seared scallops. Bardi’s diverse wine list has also been a recipient of Wine Spectator magazine’s “Award of Excellence” since 1994.

Social distancing precautions are taken in the restaurant, ensuring that masks are worn by all staff and proper space is allocated between tables. Take-out, delivery, and cook-from-home products are also available to diners looking to stay in their bubbles.

Barberian’s Steakhouse – 7 Elm St.

Perhaps one of the most beloved steakhouses in Toronto, Barberian’s has been serving great food and wine since 1959. Their top-grade, dry-aged steaks are butchered in-house. They are sure to impress any guest who comes through their doors.

Diners can enjoy entrees like centre cut top sirloin, filet mignon wrapped in bacon, and grilled Atlantic Salmon. All are cooked to perfection. With a wine cellar housing over 15,000 bottles, there’s sure to be the perfect wine pairing available for every dish.

As they dine, patrons can also enjoy the Canadian art collection housed at Barberian’s. Work by the Group of Seven is a highlight, telling the story of Canada’s emergence as a nation.

Barberian’s promises to enforce social distancing within the restaurant. Tables are six feet apart. And all staff are wearing mandatory masks and face coverings.

Michael’s on Simcoe – 100 Simcoe St.

For those looking for a luxury steakhouse with a twist, Michael’s on Simcoe is the place to be. Serving up classic dishes with an Italian flare, guests can dine on artisan Kobe and Wagyu steaks, alongside fresh-made pasta and seafood.

As a family-run restaurant, Michael’s on Simcoe promises excellence in service and dining. Guests can be comfortable knowing all surfaces are properly and frequently sanitized. Also, proper social distancing is enforced in the restaurant. All staff wear face masks and coverings at all times to ensure the safety of staff and guests.
