You look at the new Ford Bronco and the words “luxury vehicle” don’t come to mind. No it’s not a Maserati or Mercedes SUV. But hear us out. First of all, the 2023 Ford Bronco SP Heritage SUV (in retro Robin Egg Blue, which wasn’t for us, but put that aside) is loaded up with plenty of touch points that we would categorize as “luxury”.
When talking interior: AM/FM stereo with six speakers, Sirius satellite radio, illuminated entry, eight-way power driver seat with/lumbar, heated seats, 4.2-inch instrument cluster, the Heritage convenience package, which includes power moonroof. Plenty of comfort for an off-roading vehicle. The design takes its inspiration from the original 1966 truck.
Then there’s performance – turbocharged DOHC (dual overhead camshaft) 12-valve 1.5-liter ecoboost engine, 8-speed auto transmission, 181 horsepower, 190 lb-ft., all wheel drive.

Plaid cloth interior with Navy Pier Blue accents on the door panels and dash, with the rubberized cargo floor for storage. No, it’s not plush, but what would you rather have when off-roading over rough terrain, trying to hold a coffee? We didn’t get to drive it that way, but we did get off the highways into farm country, as well as the downtown city driving. Combined city/highway fuel consumption is 32 miles/gallon.
And that’s it – again, the Ford Bronco performs the same function as a Jeep TJ. The High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension Systems (HOSS) is meant for higher speed agility in the sand and traction on the rocks, so it runs smoother there. The SUV comes with a seating capacity for five. Then there’s the price, including all the options – $48,104 CAD.
