FORD MUSTANG MACH-E: RE-DESIGNED AND ELECTRIFIED

by | Sep 9, 2021 | Motor, Sustainability

Unexpected brilliance and classic Mustang handling and design embody the new Ford Mustang Mach-E. Prided both on power and zero emissions, the new electric vehicle features intricate interior detail paired with enhanced drive sensations. That translates into pure excitement for the driver.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is a super-charged drive, an electric SUV that stands out with top of the line tech. Priced at $58,935, comparing it to other comparable EVs, and factoring in what you get here, it’s great value for your money. Regarding Luxury gets you as close as you can get to the Ford Mustang Mach-E without you grabbing the wheel. We highlight all the standout features here.

Canada’s best luxury website: Ford Mustang Mach-E’s futuristic presentation

A head-turning exterior design in aptly-named Iconic Silver Metallic paint with e-latch doors offers a futuristic presentation that will wow every car enthusiast. A great number of people love to watch this car go by. That’s what I experienced driving it.

Recognizable Mustang features like the Mustang pony graphic logo emblazoned up front, active grille shutters, sleek body design, auto high beam and LED lamps with sequential tail lamp rear turn signals stand out on the exterior.

Being a 5-seater, this vehicle has exceptional cargo space and a drainable front drunk or “frunk” for even more space. The 19” painted aluminum wheels with a black painted roof complete the sleek exterior look.

Sporting a 68KWH usable standard battery, single speed transmission and a range of 370 kilometres, the Ford Mustang Mach-E goes from 0-60 MPH in 5.8 seconds. Its peak torque is an astonishing 428 lb.-ft. In terms of electric vehicles, the Mach E Mustang does use up its energy quickly but on the flipside the car offers up to 115KW DC fast charge capability.

Getting a fast charge in the downtown remains a challenge with electric vehicles in general. There has been a lot of talk about government programs to fast-track getting more charging stations installed close to where people live. But we’ll all have to see how fast that takes.

Favourite feature: Hands-free lift gate

One of my favourite features on any car from the Ford fleet has to be the hands-free lift gate. Approach the rear bumper with key fob in your pocket and open the trunk by swiping your foot under the bumper. This works only when key fob is detectable and the lift gate can be easily closed with the simple push of a button.

Unique interior elements include ambient lighting, push button start, automatic rain sensing windshield wipers. Ford Co-Pilot 360, reverse brake assist, reverse sensing system, post-impact braking, are safety features. BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with cross traffic alert, and lane keeping also add an extra level of driver protection and confidence.

Ease-of-use, large touch-screen display

Of course, this model also utilizes intelligent adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, lane centring, and speed sign recognition. Power windows, seats and mirrors go along with functionality. And the interior sports one of the largest touch-display screens I have had the pleasure of seeing in a vehicle, at 10.2 inches.

A rotary gear shift dial and smart USB ports make up the middle console, along with a wireless smartphone charging pad.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E can be set up to use your smartphone as a key. Regenerative braking and smart drive modes allow the driver to maximize battery use at all costs.

Most interesting, and in my opinion, debatable as to the extent it preserves battery life, is the One Pedal Drive feature.

Self-braking option with Ford Mustang Mach-E One Pedal Drive ideal for city driving

In One Pedal drive, the driver uses only the acceleration pedal to accelerate. Upon releasing the pedal, the Mustang Mach-E begins self-braking while sensing and breaking for the conditions at hand – stop signs or traffic ahead. While it is said that using One Pedal Drive can extend battery life, I remain somewhat unconvinced. That’s especially true for the type of driver who often “coasts” using existing vehicle momentum to maximize range.

One Pedal Drive effectively kills momentum upon releasing the acceleration pedal. I noticed very little, if any, preservation of battery life by way of regenerative braking.

In line with luxury, the heated seats and steering wheel and ultra-comfortable plush leather seating envelop the driver in a sense of richness.

If Mustang is a status symbol, the Ford Mustang Mach-E4 oozes affluence. The vehicle draws in Mustang fans new and old while offering an impressive show of futuristic features inside and out.

Car lovers approached the vehicle hands outstretched to literally feel the enticing design of this “SUV” Mustang. They were surprised upon learning it’s fully electric. Additionally, it’s one of the most fast and powerful electric vehicles I’ve ever had the pleasure of driving!
