The first thing I noticed when I sat down in the driver’s seat of the 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T Sport Plus was the extraordinary obsidian black nappa quilted leather seating and carbon fiber trim throughout.

Phenomenally strong torque and agility propels you anywhere you want to explore. It’s a vehicle perfect for withstanding all four Canadian seasons and super fun to drive. Naturally, we decided to take it to a Lake Ontario beach to beat the heat. It’s a 5-seater with cargo space of 56.9 cu/ft. behind the first row of seats. We packed coolers, hats, umbrellas and more in the ample space.
Whether you’re loading Genesis up with shopping bags or off to a round of golf, the SUV accommodates. Inside, microfibre suede and ambient lighting impress any driver or passenger. A clean digital dash and 14.5-inch HD screen are nice features. Astonishingly the screen will display current weather conditions intuitively. While the knob-controlled gear shifter took a bit of getting used to at first, it quickly became natural habit.

Of course, Genesis has sensors and cameras located around the entire vehicle. Self-adjusting mirrors and the driver assist cameras circle back to driver confidence and safety. Even during highway driving, sensors show the driver a picture of surrounding traffic picture displaying the proximity to the vehicle itself.

Constant, all around vehicle monitoring dually visible in the digital dash and head up display (HUD) means Genesis utilizes peak technology available to any vehicle in 2022. Obviously, you’ll never get lost on your way to the beach ever again. The GPS can also display in the HUD.
Technological features underscore driver focus and safety. With everything displayed in the windshield your eyes are never off the road.
3.5L V6 Twin-Turbo AWD
Driving the 8-speed automatic Genesis GV70 SUV Sport is exciting enough. It has 21-inch aluminum alloy rims on the wheels and a 3.5L V6 Twin-Turbo AWD engine is under the hood. This model has 375 horsepower. Blind Spot View Monitors, Parking Collision Avoidance-Assist Rear and Remote Smart Parking Assist are helpful in all Toronto parking situations.
The vehicle also audibly calls out traffic cameras, radars, speed cameras and red light cameras if you are approaching an intersection. Or, say, you’re driving through a school zone – enabling total driver confidence. The navigation is remarkably accurate and 21-speaker Lexicon stereo system offers crisp sounds you can really feel.
I really enjoyed that the audio and tune controls were a set of rollers at your fingertips, ideal if you’re relaxing in heavy traffic. Or you’re in a mass exodus from the city heading into cottage country. Dynamic class-leading performance, athletic styling and advanced technology are the story.
Let the sun shine in: Extra-large sunroof
The colour of the media vehicle, Barossa Burgundy, is understated elegance. And the extra large sunroof is much enjoyed on a sunny, summer day in Canada. Heated or cooled seats are a fantastic interior feature. But another aspect of the Genesis GV70 I fell in love with was the up-front cell-phone charging pocket with a door to keep the smartphone out of site and out of mind.
