The 101st edition of Pitti Uomo recently concluded in Florence’s Fortezza da Basso. While some brands and designers like Ann Demeulemeester skipped attending due to COVID-19, the impeccable menswear street style looks sure made up for it.

Undeniably, Pitti Uomo is synonymous with sophisticated sartorial tailoring. And this year, the evergreen trend was mixed with a laidback street wear vibe presenting an interesting fusion of the two. Think: a relaxed jacket layered over a crisp shirt-and-tie combo complete with trousers, a toque and trendy sunglasses. Or an oversized coat teamed with cigarette pants and sleek loafers. And a bohemian shawl thrown over a checked blazer worn with a half-unbuttoned shirt and corduroy pants.
Pitti Uomo 2022: An explosion of colour
Bold statement coats were seen aplenty, in a variety of patterns and prints (plaid, houndstooth, tartan, striped, leopard) as well as solid, neutral-yet-loud shades (off-white, tan, brown).
There was also an explosion of colour—no doubt to beat the gloomy Omicron news—expressed through accessories like shoes, bags, and hats. Neon, Periwinkle Blue (or Veri Peri, Pantone’s Color of the Year 2022), pastel pink, and crimson red added accents to multiple outfits donned by dandy men.
Street style: Athleisure meets luxury fabrics
Another leading trend that dominated Pitti Uomo was coordinated athleisure sets in luxurious fabrics styled with sneakers. That pays homage to the OG street wear look.
