When it comes to the number of resident millionaires, New York wears the crown of No. 1 in 2023, at 340,000. That’s according to a study published today by international investment migration firm Henley & Partners in partnership with global wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth. Two other American cities – the San Francisco Area and Los Angeles – came in third and sixth places (285,000 and 205,400, respectively). Tokyo is No. 2 (290,300), London is No. 4 (258,000), and Singapore (240,100) round out the Top 5. China has three cities in the Top 10 – Hong Kong (129,500), Beijing (128,200), and Shanghai (127,200). Top 10 list of fastest growing cities is led by Hangzhou, with millionaire growth of 105 per cent between 2012 and 2022, with Austin leading the way in the U.S. (102 per cent).
