LUXURY MENSWEAR: WELCOME BACK, PITTI UOMO

by | Jul 11, 2021 | Style, Fashion

One of the joys of watching the world come back is the return of unique events in the fashion calendar with their own level of energy. Pitti Uomo, held in Florence, Italy, has always been one of those shows. Usually it takes place between the London and Milan menswear shows, in January. But we just went through a year of cancelled physical events. Last week it returned (June 30 to July 2) – the 100th show in their history.

“Pitti keeps asking what fashion is,” says Pitti Immagine general manager and chief marketing officer Agostino Poletto. Says Gildo Zegna, CEO, Zegna Group, summing up her views of the show: “100 editions of cultural beauty.” Brunello Cucinelli, executive chairman and creative director, Brunello Cucinelli, calls it the most important men’s fashion event in the world. Passionate, pulsating with energy, always current, someone else said.

This year’s event featured 350 men’s brands. There were three themes: Fantastic Classic, Dynamic Attitude (the meeting point between sport and streetwear), and Superstyling (the trend section of the show). For us, what’s most fun about the event are the looks and fashion outside the shows. Here’s a selection of the some of the very best. Welcome back, Pitti Uomo.
