LUXURY WATCH REVIEW: CHOPARD’S BOLD NEW ALPINE EAGLE COLLECTION

by | Nov 7, 2020 | Style, Watches

Chopard just introduced an exciting line of new watches to their Alpine Eagle Collection. And as the name implies, the design is inspired by both the power of the eagle and the beauty of the alps. The watches are entirely produced and assembled in Chopard’s watchmaking atelier in Switzerland.

Wrist shot: Introducing a new line of colourful Rolex Oyster Perpetual models

The Alpine Eagle Collection offers watches in three sizes. The first is the XL Chrono, which comes in a 44 mm diameter case. It’s made of Lucent Steel A223 in either Aletsch Blue or Pitch Black dial.

The bracelets are made of a robust brushed steel that integrate seamlessly into the rugged bezel. The Aletsch Blue maintains its solidarity in steel colour, whereas the pitchblack version integrates gold into the bracelet, bezel and crown for added boldness.

Three watches in the collection

The watch is powered by the Chopard 03.05 – C mechanical movement with automatic movement and flyback function. A flyback chronograph is a watch in which the user can use the reset function without the need to first stop the chronograph. Four patents have been filed by Chopard testifying to the watch’s accuracy and user friendliness.

The Eagle Large is the second offering in the new collection. It is characterized as being precious and ethical, due to the Chopard Maison’s commitment to responsible luxury.

Since 2018 all watches and jewellery creations emerging from its workshops are crafted from ethical 18-carat rose gold. They are available in Aletsch Blue and in Bernina Grey, framed by a diamond-set bezel and equipped with a 60-hour reserve.

Diamond settings

The Alpine Eagle Small is pure and radiant. It also fashions Lucent Steel A223, which is comparable to surgical steel. The watch has an intensely reflective and luminous quality, and is also antiallergenic and 50 percent harder than other steels. The Aletsch Blue dial lit up by diamond settings on the bezel is equally suited to both masculine and feminine wrists.

The watch is fitted with an in-house mechanical movement, 09.01-C Calibre with an automatic winding chronometer certified by the COSC, Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres. And the Eagle Small has a power reserve of 42 hours.

The watch is distinct for its compass rose-engraved crown and Alpine Eagle bracelet which is composed of a single ingot-shaped link, topped by a raised central cap reminiscent of mountain environment.

Chopard’s claim to stand as the “artisan of emotions” comes through tastefully and distinguishably through this magnificent collection of fine luxury watches. These watches offer dynamism and are pieces you can wear for your Friday night out or to a fancy soiree. The brand has been around since 1860 and has made an indelible mark in watch history.
