HOW TO MAKE YOUR LUXURY HOME FEEL LARGER

While living in a small space can feel cozy and charming, overtime your luxury home can start to seem cramped.

From compact city apartments to quaint countryside cottages, there are a wide variety of strategies that you can employ to make your home feel larger, and more comfortable.

So, if you have a small home and are ready for an interior design project, here are just five fantastic ways to maximise your space and transform your living environment.

Keep it clutter free

One of the simplest ways to make your home feel larger is by decluttering your living space. When your belongings are scattered everywhere, it can make even a large room feel cramped.

Regularly go through your items and sort out anything that you no longer use or need, you can then use planforms  to sell them and make some extra cash.

Too much clutter around us can make it harder to relax, so a tidy home will be a more enjoyable home.

Light colours

The choice of colour for a space can have a drastic impact on the perceived size of a room. Light colours, such as pastel hues and soft neutrals, even a simple white, work wonders at making a space feel bright and airy.

Consider painting your walls and ceilings in these lighter shades to visually expand the boundaries of your rooms.

Of course, you may also want to add contrast to keep the room looking three dimensional, so use dark coloured furniture or even a feature wall.

Invest in large mirrors

The strategic placement of mirrors is an incredible way to make a room seem larger than it really is. Mirrors reflect both natural and artificial light and can be used to capture and amplify light sources, such as windows or lamps.

You could consider using large mirror cladding on one wall can create the illusion of depth, mirrored decor accents can add a touch of glamour and luxury.

Mirrors don’t just make a room feel larger, but they add a touch of elegance that will enhance any space.

Get smart with storage

When your home is on the smaller side, you need to utilise clever storage solutions to maximise your floor space.

Built-in wardrobes and shelving units are an excellent way for you to ensure you have somewhere to put your belongings away without blocking that all important floor space.

Consider redesigning your bedroom to incorporate storage solutions that are specifically designed to make a room feel large and tidy.

The minimalist life

Of course, if you know that you’re going to be living in a smaller space, it might be a good idea to start embracing minimalism.

Streamline your belongings and really ask yourself if you really need something before you buy it. Consider taking the Marie Kondo approach to your decluttering and ask yourself for each item if it brings you joy.

Living in a smaller space doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice style and luxury, but it does mean that you’ll have to get a bit more creative with your interior design if you want to make your home feel larger.
