The DBX has a unique body architecture that is shared with no other vehicles in the Aston Martin stable. Its grille – first seen in 1949 on a DB2 prototype – gives the front a distinctive look. Speaking of architecture, the SUV has an all-new platform, sculpted from aluminum that’s bonded for strength.
The DBX, like all of Aston Martin’s production sports and grand touring cars, has a double wishbone front suspension. It also has a multi-link rear axle, and adaptive damping for each wheel.
Under the hood, the DBX features a 4-litre V8 engine that produces horsepower of 542 and maximum torque of 700. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. That’s plenty of speed for most drivers, and is capable of hitting a maximum speed of 291 km/h. Despite its luxury pedigree, the DBX, with a towing capacity of 5,940 lb, has the heft to meet the needs of most families.
Other body and design features include five-door SUV body style and clamshell bonnet with twin vents. It also has a signature light air duct with daytime running lights, rear aero wing, frameless doors with flush glazing and hidden seals. The panoramic glass sunroof is another great feature.
Premium audio system
The DBX offers 12.3” TFT driver information display, 10.25” TFT central display, Aston Martin Premium Audio System, and SiriusXM Satellite radio. There is also Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity with audio streaming, mobile phone operating system connectivity via Apple CarPlay. The truck’s technology includes voice control, and satellite navigation system.
Optional interior appointments include full grain ‘Caithness’ leather trim and an extended colour choice, full grain ‘Caithness’ leather and wool felt interior trim, and leather headlining with Alcantara roof blind. The DBX comes with ventilated seats and heated steering wheel.
While some reviewers have said that the styling could be more adventurous, there are numerous optional exterior appointments for drivers who wish to personalize their DBX.
With an MSRP starting at $218,400, the DBX is a high-end luxury SUV with a price tag to match.
