NEW: APPLETON LAUNCHES LIMITED EDITION 8 YEAR OLD RUM

by | Jun 6, 2024 | Leisure, Spirits

Father’s Day is fast approaching – June 16, to be specific. If you’re looking for ideas we are pretty sure he’ll love, Jamaican distillery Appleton Estate is bringing out an aged, 8 Year Old Double Cask limited edition just in time for summer sipping. This is the first-ever cask finish release, guided by the brand’s Master Blender, Dr. Joy Spence.

Looking to capture some of the most evocative flavors in a classic single malt scotch whisky, Spence selected rums aged a minimum of eight years, then finished in 60 hand-picked 18 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Whisky Casks, notable for their distinctive fruity and floral notes.

The result is a spirit that features delicate spiced fruit flavours, interwoven with dried honeyed raisins, caramel and vanilla, while introducing an overtone of wood and concluding with Appleton Estate’s signature orange peel top note.

Looking to match it up with a Cuban cigar to enhance the experience? One of the best choices for a pairing here is the Cohiba Siglo VI, known for its rich, complex flavor. It has notes of creamy chocolate, coffee, and a hint of spice, which complement the sweetness and complexity of a fine rum like Appleton. The Cohiba Siglo VI is medium to full-bodied, providing enough strength to stand up to the bold flavors of a quality rum without overwhelming the palate.

Appleton Estate will produce 13,000 limited edition bottles of the expression, which will be available only in Canada beginning this month. Customers will start to see the product roll out on shelves at local liquor stores in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario within the coming weeks
