WINTER WONDERLAND: HAVE MORE FUN ON THE SLOPES WITH THESE BASIC TIPS

by | Dec 17, 2021 | Leisure

Heading out on the slopes is always fun, but what if it could be even more fun? If skiing or snowboarding is something that you’ve become accustomed to, it can start to feel a little old-hat or not as exciting as it used to be.

If this is an issue that you’re having or you simply want to try and add something to your experience on the slopes, make some changes so that you enjoy yourself more. By doing things just a little differently, you could make the whole experience more fun and memorable. Try these options if you want to have a better time on the slopes.

Challenge yourself

Do you feel like you’ve got used to doing the same runs again and again? You do the same thing each time, and you’re kind of used to it by now. If you think you’re ready for something more, why not challenge yourself? You could try out a more difficult run, perhaps moving up a level to a different color.

Or if you’re already on the most difficult slopes or not ready to move on, challenge yourself in other ways. Time yourself and see if you can beat your best time or race someone else.

Get some instruction

You might have had some lessons when you first started skiing, but then decided to branch out on your own. But even if you’re an experienced skier or snowboarder, you can always benefit from instruction from someone who knows what they’re doing.

If you book some lessons, your instructor can show you some new things, help to correct your form if necessary, and set you challenges to help you improve. If you have a friend who’s more experienced than you, they could also help by giving you some pointers to follow.

Listen to music

Blasting some music on the slopes can make your time there a lot more fun. You can have your very own soundtrack to your skiing or snowboarding, which can help to motivate you to do more. But it’s also important to be aware of your surroundings, so it’s essential to have the right headphones.

A pair of Alta ski headphones will allow you to listen to your music while still hearing the sounds of the slopes around you. They also slip neatly into your helmet, so you can wear them comfortably while you’re on the slopes.

Go with friends

If you often ski alone, going with some friends can make your experience more fun. Of course, it’s helpful if everyone has a similar skill level, but you could also have a mixed group so that more experienced people can help less experienced people to improve their skills. Skiing as a group can be safer too because you can watch out for each other. Alternatively, if you usually ski with others, you might find it enjoyable to go alone and bask in your own company.

Use these tips to get out there on the slopes and have plenty of fun, whether you’re a beginner or you’re more experienced.
