LINCOLN PUSHES HOME-AWAY-FROM-HOME THEME WITH NEW NAVIGATOR

A “spa on wheels”? Signs us up for that. That’s how the 2024 Lincoln Navigator is being marketed. We spent a week with it, and saw no reason to argue that. The company’s flag-ship, full-size SUV is back with a bold, new design, a re-imagined interior, and new connected experiences.

The Lincoln Digital Experience is anchored by a 48-inch panoramic display the spans the length of the horizontal instrument panel. Headlines include rich premium materials throughout the interior, dynamic climate control, automatically adjusted seat position with heat and massage options, scenting, sound, calming visuals, lighting, customizable profiles to personalize your driving experience, and those expansive visuals – at a total price for the media vehicle at $130,195 (seating up to eight). The second row passengers have the same comfort levels as those in the front row.

While in park, a tap of the touchscreen activates a five- or ten-minute Rejuvenate experience. The driver’s seat slides rearward, reclines, warms slightly and begins massaging. The steering wheel moves up and away, with calming visuals on the panoramic screen, with some ambient lighting, soothing sounds and subtle fragrances that fill the cabin. Try that after navigating a highway hell run to the shopping centre.

There’s the feeling of sanctuary, also with a sleek exterior design, but there’s also practicality – with the Lincoln Split Gate, the top three-quarters of the gate rises like a traditional lift gate, with the bottom quarter lowers like a conventional tailgate, to make it more convenient to do things like unload groceries out of the back without them spilling out onto the driveway.

Lincoln Navigator: New connected experiences

The elevated panoramic display in the Lincoln Navigator puts information about the driving experience more in line with the driver’s field of vision. Voice commands and steering wheel thumb controls make the process of managing everything that goes into the drive more seamless. The vehicle’s technology gives you easy access to music, podcasts, video and gaming apps via Google Play store. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard – an extension of the home and office.

New for the Lincoln Digital Experience is Pano Mode, which plays video and gaming apps when the vehicle is in park. Google Maps is integrated and provides real-time traffic updates, road conditions, dynamic and eco-friendly routes, and points of interest. 5G wireless technology brings fast connectivity6 and four years of Lincoln Premium Connectivity is included to help provide the best possible in-vehicle experience.
