PORSCHE CAYENNE S E-HYBRID: ON COURSE FOR AN ELECTRIC FUTURE

by | Jul 24, 2024 | Cars, Motor

With the 2024 Cayenne S E-Hybrid, Porsche shows off their commitment to an electric future. The Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid provides system power of 416 hp (306 kW), accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 243 km/h. It has been available from dealers since October 2014.

Porsche is the first carmaker with three plug-in models in its portfolio. In addition to the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the Panamera S E-Hybrid, launched in August 2013 as the first plug-in hybrid in the luxury segment, the 918 Spyder super sports car underlines Porsche’s expertise in the field of plug-in hybrid technology.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid that was tested was priced at $143,360 – a base price of $113,700, with added features like the leather interior in Black/Bordeaux Red, 21-inch AeroDesign Wheels with Wheel Arch Extensions in Exterior, the Premium Package with the BOSE Surround Sound System, Ambient Lightning, Panoramic Roof System, Power Seats (14-way) with Memory Package, and heated seats (front and back).

New Porsche Cayenne Hybrid: 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds

In terms of consumption data, according to this research, combined fuel consumption for the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid was 3.4 l/100 km; CO₂ emission: 79 g/km; Electricity consumption: 20.8 kWh/100 km. If they ever figure out the charging infrastructure challenges for electric vehicles, these types of luxury electric vehicles will build even more in popularity. Very clear technical advances are on display with this version, compared to the previous Cayenne S Hybrid. The 2024 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid has a lithium-ion traction battery that now has an energy capacity of 10.8 kWh (previously was 1.7 kWh from a nickel-metal-hydride battery). The electric range falls between 18 and 36 kilometres (11 to 22 miles). That’s where you are to sell most people – being able to their everyday journeys without consuming fuel.

The power output of the electric motor has more than doubled. An accelerator pedal with a pressure switching point allows the driver to precisely regulate the electric motor’s power development and activate the combustion engine. You’ll be happy with the overall power. At 416 HP (306 kW) the combined system power output of the supercharged 3L V6 engine and the electric motor coupled with a combined system torque of 590 Nm means a performance at the level of a sports car – 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of 243 km/h (151 mph). That electric top speed is 125 km/h (78 mph).

That power, plus the plush luxury of the interior, and the peace of mind knowing you can drive off the battery around the city, with the combustion engine backing you up for long drives outside the city, is a pretty enticing package.
