Richard Mille is out with the RM 74-02 Automatic Tourbillon, enhanced with Gold Carbon TPT and Gold Quartz TPT, a material exclusive to Richard Mille in watchmaking. This time the technical challenge lay in combining a singular composite material (Carbon TPT) and a precious metal (gold leaf). Years of work went into its development.
A watchmaking constitutive whose resistance is matched only by its lightness, it kindles a striking contrast between the matte black of carbon and the aura of gold. Its dusky silhouette is shot with threads of 24-carat yellow gold, whose radiance extends over the baseplate and the red-gold caseband with polished pillars as well as the crown encircled with yellow gold
At the heart of the RM 74-02 beats the CRMT5 Calibre, an in-house automatic tourbillon movement crafted from 18K 5N red gold and 18K 3N yellow gold for the baseplate and bridges, respectively. Within this intricate and architectural openwork structure, the tourbillon regulator ensures the movement’s precision.
A red gold and platinum variable-geometry rotor is responsible for producing the energy of the watch, energy that flows from fast-winding barrel, transmitted through the meshing teeth of involute gears, sustaining 50 hours of performance. The bevelled flange, crafted with festooned edges, highlights the lines of the movement, while hand-finished details refine the watch’s delicate features.
