THE BEST PLACES IN THE MEDITERRANEAN TO SEE BY YACHT

by | Aug 31, 2023 | Travel

Known for its sparkling blue waters, staggering cliffs and colourful houses that dot the surrounding hills, the Mediterranean has a certain charm that no one is immune to. From historic coastal towns to high-class destinations and places of raw natural beauty, this part of the world really has it all. What’s more, it’s exceedingly beautiful to experience by yacht.

It’s not hard to imagine yourself cruising through the emerald depths, diving into the warm waters and then anchoring up for a spot of lunch on the shore. With increasing numbers seeking out yachts for sale, here are just a few of the places that you should visit whilst on your yacht cruise around the Mediterranean.

Positano, Italy

A favourite amongst celebrities and anyone who wants a glimpse of the famous Amalfi Coast, Positano (pictured above) is renowned for its gastronomy, endless horizons and staggering coastline that is fringed by some of the prettiest houses you ever did see.

Not only that, but it’s also famed for its gastronomy. No strangers to esteemed guests from all over the world, Positano has an exciting dining scene to suit all those who seek a touch of luxury. After a candlelit supper on land, you can return to your yacht and enjoy the harbour into the early hours.

Oia, Greece

Irresistibly romantic and a hot spot for newly engaged and married couples, it’s hard not to fall in love with Oia. It’s a cliff town in Santorini which is famous for its whitewashed houses and turquoise waters below.

Easily reachable by yacht, you can see the whole town in a day and then hang around for the most spellbinding hour: sunset. Indeed, you have never seen a sunset so endless or colourful. Best enjoyed up high, climb to the top of the town and then descend down to your yacht for cocktails after the sunset is over.

Saint Tropez, France

Another favourite with celebrities, Saint Tropez has always been associated with glamour and luxury. And although it might be beloved by those who have the means to afford it, it’s still in the French Riviera which means it’s laid back and easy going.

It’s a notoriously difficult spot to reach with international airports over an hour away, but with a yacht you can cruise in on the spotless waters, set up shop and discover this town’s ancient side streets, lie on the beach, visit the famous war monuments and graze on world-class gastronomy.

Also known as the Turquoise Coast, Gocek never disappoints. Enjoy the bright water from mere metres away on your yacht and hop off to soak in some of the town’s incredible architecture. It really has to be seen to be believed.
